New Delhi, 05 August (H.S.): Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is on a one-day visit to Sri Lanka, met Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo on Wednesday. The two sides reviewed issues of mutual interest and assessed the progress of major development projects being implemented in Sri Lanka with Indian assistance. During the visit, India and Sri Lanka also exchanged agreements related to a USD 350 million Indian Rupee (INR)-denominated Line of Credit.

According to the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, the meeting between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake focused on further strengthening bilateral cooperation and reviewing the implementation of key Indian-assisted development projects across Sri Lanka.

Following the meeting, both sides exchanged agreements pertaining to the USD 350 million INR-denominated Line of Credit. The financial assistance forms part of India's broader USD 450 million post-cyclone reconstruction support package extended to Sri Lanka following Cyclone Dithvah.

The Line of Credit agreements will be utilised to support post-cyclone reconstruction efforts, infrastructure development, and the procurement of essential materials required for rehabilitation and recovery projects.
