Bhubaneswar, 05 August (H.S.): A high-level meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday to review the comprehensive development plan for the Maa Mangala Temple at Kakatpur in Odisha’s Puri district. The meeting was jointly chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

The discussions focused on the development of the temple’s Bijesthali, beautification of surrounding areas, and enhancement of basic amenities for devotees and tourists.

Key proposals reviewed during the meeting included renovation of the main temple, construction of a new temple kitchen (Roshaghara), development of parking facilities, establishment of a Sevayat Bhawan, modernization of Yatri Niwas and Chandan Ghat, setting up of Prasad shops, and construction of a heritage gateway.

The meeting also deliberated on the second phase of the integrated development project. Proposed works under this phase include the creation of a picnic zone, construction of a heritage ghat on the Prachi River, a dedicated bridge, a children’s park, a temple administrative office, and a shoe stand. Officials were directed to conduct necessary surveys and submit a detailed project report.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said that Maa Mangala Temple, a prominent Shakti Peetha, holds deep religious significance and attracts devotees from across the region. She stated that the government has prioritised the temple’s holistic development and is committed to improving facilities for pilgrims.

Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan emphasised the temple’s emotional and spiritual importance for devotees across Odisha and beyond. He directed officials to prepare a comprehensive development blueprint to ensure systematic and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including OBCC Managing Director Anupam Saha, Tourism Director Deepankar Mohapatra, Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida, Endowment Commissioner Satyanarayan Sadangi, Engineer-in-Chief (Civil) Satyabrata Behera, Engineer-in-Chief (Buildings) Priyabrata Samantaray, Chief Engineer Trinath Behera, along with members of the Temple Trust Board and Sevayats.
