
Guwahati, 05 August (HS): Dibrugarh Warriors staged a remarkable recovery from a disastrous start to defeat Charaideo Sunrisers by five wickets in Match 8 of the Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium on Wednesday.
After electing to bowl, Dibrugarh's bowlers kept the Sunrisers under constant pressure. Doikho Das led the attack with an impressive spell of 4/33, while Roshan Alam claimed 3/16 to restrict Charaideo Sunrisers to 120 in 19.1 overs. Soumya Kanti Paul top-scored with a quickfire 46 off 29 balls, while Hrishikesh Tamuli contributed 22.
The chase got off to a disastrous start for Dibrugarh Warriors as they slumped to 3/3, losing Ronit Akhtar, Parvej Musaraf and Diwiz Pathak cheaply. However, Ayush Agarwal and Rituraj Biswas rescued the innings with a match-winning 88-run partnership. Both batters scored 45 runs each, anchoring the recovery and putting the Warriors firmly in control.
Despite two late wickets, skipper Saahil Jain remained unbeaten on a brisk 18 off eight deliveries, while Sidhartha Sankar Baruah added an unbeaten eight to guide Dibrugarh Warriors to 121/5 in 17.5 overs, sealing the victory with 13 balls to spare.
