Mumbai, 05 Aug (HS): The Bombay High Court directed

the social media to immediately remove the objectionable, defamatory and lewd content

against Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and his family members, in connection with

E20 petrol. Gadkari had sought permission from the court to proceed in the

defamatory case before filing a complaint with the police in Nagpur.

The case was place in front of a single bench of

Justice Arif Doctors, who directed the social media operators like X (earlier

Twitter), Google and other online platforms to develop system to remove such

contents before it becomes viral. Such posts can affect the mentality of the

young generation. Justice Doctor also

said the social platform operators should be very careful about such posts,

which are related to any public figure.

Nitin Gadkari has complained against Meta, Google

and X claiming damages of Rs 11 crore for his defamation. In his petition

Gadkari has claimed that he is personally responsible for Ethanol Blending

policy and his son Nikhi’s company Clan Agro and Infrastructure Limited is

illegally earning huge profits. Gadkari has explained that E20 petrol is the

policy decision of the Petroleum Ministry.
