New Delhi, 05 August (H.S.): Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal on Wednesday blamed the Central Government for the continuing deadlock in Parliament, alleging that it was unwilling to listen to either the Opposition or the concerns of the people. He said the Opposition was raising issues of public importance, but the government was avoiding discussion on every matter.

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Venugopal said the Opposition was giving voice to the concerns of the people in Parliament, but instead of responding, the government was attempting to evade them. He questioned why the Union Home Minister was not coming to Parliament to respond to the issues raised and said it was the government's responsibility to resolve the ongoing impasse.

He alleged that police had acted brutally against students in Delhi and claimed that AK-47 rifles were used against students in Bihar. He said the Union Home Minister should respond to these incidents in Parliament, adding that the Opposition was only demanding a discussion on these issues.

Referring to the alleged irregularities in donations made to the Ram Temple, Venugopal said accountability had not been fixed and no impartial investigation had been conducted. He said the Opposition wanted to know what had transpired in the matter, but the government was avoiding a parliamentary discussion on it.

Venugopal further said that the Opposition had also raised issues related to E-20 and the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament. He described these as matters of public interest and alleged that the government was unwilling to allow discussion on any of them. According to him, the government was not interested in ensuring the effective functioning of Parliament.
