Hooghly, 05 August (H.S.): Local BJP workers and supporters staged a protest on Wednesday against Aditi Ganguly, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Khanakul-I Block, alleging bias and irregularities in the implementation of development works.
The protesters claimed that since the post-election period, the BDO has not played an active role in carrying out development activities in the block. They further alleged that despite the Chief Minister's directive to undertake development work in coordination with the area's MLA, the instruction has not been followed.
According to the BJP workers, the BDO has been taking development-related decisions in consultation with the Trinamool Congress president, vice-president, and the Public Works Karmadhyaksha of the Panchayat Samiti, while keeping BJP's elected public representatives uninformed about such decisions.
The protest led to a brief period of tension in the area. Police from Khanakul Police Station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Normalcy was restored following their intervention.
No immediate response was available from BDO Aditi Ganguly or the Trinamool Congress regarding the allegations made by the protesters at the time of filing this report.
