
Imphal, 05 August (HS): Manipur Police have arrested an active cadre of the banned RPF/PLA and two suspected NSCN (IM) extortionists in separate operations, while also seizing a large quantity of illicit liquor during a special enforcement drive.
According to police, an active RPF/PLA cadre identified as Thokchom Sanju Meitei alias Luwang (26), a resident of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai in Kakching district, was arrested from Thangmeiband Khuyathong Polem Leikai in Imphal West on August 4. Two hand grenades were recovered from his possession. Police said the accused was allegedly involved in planting grenades in the Imphal area.
In another operation carried out on the same day, Manipur Police arrested two suspected NSCN (IM) cadres allegedly involved in extortion from Sibilong along National Highway-37 under Kaimai Police Station in Tamenglong district. The arrested persons were identified as Gaisuaklung Ngaomei (45) of Bhalok village and Job Gangmei (29) of Sibilong Pt-II under Tousem Sub-Division.
Police recovered one live cartridge, cash amounting to ₹22,000, and two Baofeng communication sets along with chargers from their possession.
Meanwhile, during a liquor enforcement drive conducted at Patsoi Lamkhai and Khumbong Bazar under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West, police seized 310 litres of DIC liquor as part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal liquor trade.-----------
