New Delhi, 04 August (H.S.): India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra will return to action at the Lausanne Diamond League on August 21, aiming for the title in one of the strongest men's javelin competitions of the season. After winning a silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Neeraj is set to compete against some of the biggest names in the sport.

The Indian Olympic champion will face a star-studded field, including Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, reigning world champion Keshorn Walcott, former world champion Anderson Peters, former Olympic champion Thomas Röhler, and Commonwealth Games gold medallist from Sri Lanka, Rumesh Pathirage.

At the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Neeraj delivered his season-best performance with an 85.83-metre throw in his second attempt to secure the silver medal. Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 89.75 metres.

The organisers of the Lausanne Diamond League said in a statement, On August 21, at Athletissima, five superstar javelin throwers who are winners of the last four Olympic Games and World Championships will compete together. It will be a competition of an exceptional level.

The Lausanne Diamond League will be Neeraj's second Diamond League appearance of the season. Earlier in June, he competed at the Doha Diamond League, where he finished fourth with a best effort of 85.69 metres.

The 28-year-old Indian has enjoyed strong performances in Lausanne in the past. In 2024, he secured second place at the venue with a throw of 89.49 metres. Neeraj is now ready to once again challenge the world's best javelin throwers and aim for top honours on the international stage.
