Paris, 04 August (H.S.):

English Premier League club Fulham have signed Spanish striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid, with both clubs officially announcing the transfer on Monday. The move also reunites Garcia with his former coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

The 22-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive previous season, scoring eight goals for Real Madrid across all competitions, including six in La Liga. He also netted a hat-trick against Real Betis in January.

Garcia has signed a contract with Fulham that will keep him at the club until 2031. The agreement also includes an option for a one-year extension.

According to Spanish media reports, the transfer fee is around 40 million euros (approximately 46 million US dollars). Real Madrid have retained a 30 per cent sell-on clause on any future transfer involving the player.

Fulham appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as their head coach earlier this summer. Arbeloa had previously worked with Real Madrid's youth teams and was promoted to take charge of the first team in January following Xabi Alonso's departure.

Along with Garcia, 21-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder Cesar Palacios has also left Real Madrid to join Fulham. Palacios had recently earned a place in Real Madrid's first team under Arbeloa's guidance.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have appointed experienced Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho as Arbeloa's successor. The club is undergoing major changes after failing to win a major trophy for two consecutive seasons.
