Abohar, 31 August (H.S.): A shocking incident was reported from Abohar on Monday afternoon, where a man allegedly killed his 80-year-old mother. The incident took place in Street No. 1 of Sant Nagar. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sunil Kumar.

According to information, Sunil Kumar allegedly returned home under the influence of drugs and got into an argument with his mother, Krishna Rani. Fearing his aggressive behaviour, Krishna Rani went into a room and locked the door from inside to protect herself.

The accused allegedly broke the room's window and entered. He reportedly tore his mother's clothes before attacking her several times on the head with a pressure cooker kept inside the house. She sustained serious injuries and died.

Hearing the woman's cries, neighbours rushed to the spot and managed to apprehend the accused. Krishna Rani had reportedly come to stay at the house only three days earlier after living with her younger son, Vijay Kumar.

After receiving information about the incident, DSP Harish Kumar and SHO Police Station No. 1, Maninder Singh, reached the spot with a police team. With the assistance of members of Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa Samiti, the body was shifted to the hospital mortuary.

Police said Sunil Kumar has been arrested and is being questioned. Further legal action is being taken based on the statement of the deceased's younger son, Vijay Kumar. Police are investigating all aspects of the case.
