New Delhi, 31 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday described the country’s first-quarter GDP figures as encouraging and credited India’s collective strength for the robust economic performance. Taking a swipe at those who had expressed doubts about the country’s progress, he said, “The pessimists were proven wrong and India flourished once again.”

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said that real GDP growth of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter (April-June) of financial year 2026-27 was a significant achievement despite oil price shocks, disruptions in supply chains and global uncertainties. He said the collective strength of the people had enabled India to achieve such a strong growth rate.

According to the data released on Monday, India’s real GDP at constant prices is estimated at Rs 81.36 lakh crore in the first quarter of financial year 2026-27. This represents a 7.8 per cent increase over the Rs 75.46 lakh crore recorded during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
