New Delhi, 31 August (H.S.): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Embassy of Nepal and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and property caused by the devastating floods that recently struck Nepal.

While signing the condolence book at the embassy, Singh conveyed heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the Government of India and the people of India, to the Government of Nepal and the people of Nepal. Paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the floods, the Defence Minister said the unprecedented natural disaster had affected not only Nepali citizens but also Indian and other foreign nationals.

In a post on his official social media account on X, Singh wrote, “Our prayers and condolences are with the families of those who lost their lives in this disaster. We also wish the injured a speedy recovery.”

Referring to the deep and longstanding ties between Nepal and India, the Defence Minister said India had always been a “partner in Nepal’s joys and sorrows.” He said, “As a close friend and partner, India has always stood by Nepal. In this difficult hour as well, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our Nepali brothers and sisters and remain fully committed to supporting Nepal’s search, rescue and rehabilitation efforts.”
