New Delhi, 31 August (H.S.): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday criticised the Election Commission following the publication of Delhi’s draft electoral roll prepared under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

In a post on social media platform X, Kejriwal said that the names of around 47 lakh people out of nearly 1.5 crore voters had not been included in the draft electoral roll released under the Delhi SIR exercise.

Kejriwal alleged that a large number of voters were being removed from the electoral rolls through the SIR process. Taking a swipe at the Election Commission, he said there was no need for the Central government to worry about population growth, as the Election Commission would reduce the country’s population.

It may be noted that Delhi’s draft electoral roll was published on Monday, with the names of around 47.7 lakh voters removed from the list of 1.45 crore electors in the national capital. The Election Commission has said that approximately 43 lakh voters did not submit the required forms to the poll panel.
