
Guwahati, 31 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited the site of the tragic accident in Khetri and expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives.
Sarma conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and assured that the government stands firmly with them during the difficult period.
The Chief Minister said the matter has already been taken up with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with a strong request for necessary corrective measures to strengthen road safety. While the NHAI is conducting its investigation, Assam Police has also initiated a comprehensive and impartial probe into the incident.
Sarma said that if anyone is found responsible for negligence or wrongdoing, strict action will be taken and no one will be spared. He stressed that there would be no compromise with public safety.
The Chief Minister also announced a one-time financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the next of the kin of all seven people who killed in the accident.---------
