Kolkata, 30 August (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remembering legendary actor and Bengali cinema icon Uttam Kumar during the latest edition of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat.

In a post on X, Suvendu said he listened to the programme from his office and described the Prime Minister’s tribute to Uttam Kumar as a moment of immense pride for the people of West Bengal. Uttam Kumar’s 100th birth centenary will be observed on September 3.

Suvendu said Prime Minister Modi highlighted the legendary actor’s unparalleled cinematic talent, charisma and enduring artistic legacy. He noted that Uttam Kumar’s timeless performances continue to define the cultural identity of Bengali cinema and inspire generations of filmmakers, storytellers and cinema lovers.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of West Bengal, the Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi had honoured the immortal legacy of the beloved Mahanayak on a national platform.

The post was also tagged to the Prime Minister’s Office, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, the BJP and West Bengal BJP.
