Lucknow, August 03 (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath sent a special letter, or Paati, to the people of the

state on the auspicious occasion of the first Monday of the month of Shravan

(Sawan). He has offered greetings to the people of the state through this

letter and has urged them to turn environment and water conservation into a

popular movement.

According to CM Yogi, the month of Shravan is more than just

a religious celebration; it is also a holy festivity of public welfare, labor

respect, and collectivity. He mentioned Lord Shiva's intake of poison during

the ocean's churning as an example of utmost sacrifice and public good. He

asserted that Shiva worship teaches us temperance, service, and societal peace.

He described water as the fifth element and the essential foundation of life.

The Chief Minister urged the people to respect every drop of water and plant as

many trees as possible.

In the letter, he noted that almost 20,000 Amrit Sarovars had been created in

Uttar Pradesh to save water. He also gave the example of a Lucknow residential

society that recharges 50,000 liters of groundwater each day by collecting

wastewater from AC and RO systems.

Finally, he invited the people to promise to dedicate the full month of Shravan

to service, cleanliness, environmental promotion, water conservation, and

social involvement.

On the occasion of the beginning of the month of Shravan,

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wrote a letter to the people of the state,

highlighting the religious, social and environmental significance of this holy

month. He said that Shravan is not only a festival of worshipping Lord Shiva,

but also gives the message of public welfare, respect for labor, service,

cleanliness, collectivism and conservation of nature. The Chief Minister

appealed to the people of the state to celebrate the month of Shravan with a

pledge of service, cleanliness and environmental protection.

Chief Minister Yogi said that worshipping Lord Shiva

inspires humankind to self-restraint, service, and harmony. Shiva's drinking of

Halahal symbolizes supreme renunciation. He added that Lord Shiva's life and

character inspire society to sacrifice and dedicate itself to the welfare of

others. During the month of Shravan, there is a need to promote the spirit of

public welfare along with devotion to Shiva.

Collective labor and shared culture are visible in Shravan: CM

Yogi said that Shravan is not only connected to religious beliefs, but also

deeply connected to rural life and the traditions of collective labor. The

community feast held after the paddy planting is a living example of

collectivism and shared culture. He said that in this tradition, people work

together and share each other's joys and sorrows.

Chief Minister Yogi said that Shravan also conveys the

message of coexistence with nature and its conservation. During this rainy

season, nature takes on a new form. Therefore, people should understand their

responsibility towards the environment and pledge to give back to nature as

much as they take from it.

Emphasis on linking water conservation with public

participation: In his address, CM Yogi emphasized water conservation. He stated

that water is the fundamental element of life, and its conservation is not

solely the government's responsibility. Without public participation, water

conservation campaigns cannot succeed. He appealed to the public to save every

drop of water and cooperate in the conservation of water resources.

Chief Minister Yogi stated that approximately 20,000 Amrit

Sarovars have been developed in Uttar Pradesh. He also mentioned local efforts

being made to conserve water. According to the CM, a society in Lucknow has

initiated the recharge of approximately 50,000 liters of water . He said that

such efforts inspire people to conserve water and can help address water crises

at the local level.

Respect every drop, protect every plant: CM Yogi appealed to

the people of the state not to limit the month of Shravan to religious rituals

alone, but to make it a month of service, cleanliness, and environmental

protection. He urged everyone to conserve water, plant trees, and take

responsibility for the protection of the planted trees.

Chief Minister Yogi said that sensitivity to nature has been

a part of our culture. Therefore, on the occasion of Shravan, every person

should pledge to give back to nature as much as they take from it. He said that

respecting every drop of water and protecting every plant will lay the

foundation for a secure future for generations to come.

is a sacred festival of public welfare, labor-honoring, and collective spirit.

Nature imparts the message of renewal, and the toil of the food-giver begins to

bear fruit in the form of verdant prosperity. In the eternal culture, this very

rejuvenation of nature, intertwined with the worship of Shiva, guides life

toward the path of restraint, service, and harmony. The Lord of Lords, Mahadev,

is himself the deity of nature's wisdom. The Ganga flowing in his matted locks,

the moon adorning his forehead, the serpent around his neck, Nandi ji and his

attendants—these convey to us the message of coexistence with nature. Let us

resolve to transform the month of Shravan into one dedicated to service,

cleanliness, water conservation, environmental enhancement, and social

participation. Let us honor every drop of water and protect every plant. This

is the true message of Shravan and the foundation stone of a prosperous,

secure, and developed Uttar Pradesh.”
