Lucknow, August 03 (HS): Uttar Pradesh's Urban Development
and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma, while answering various departmental questions
on the first day of the third session of the Legislative Council on Monday,
effectively presented the government's development-oriented working style,
transparency and commitment to public welfare before the House.
Responding to another question, Energy Minister A.K. Sharma
said that the state government is fully committed to providing quality and
uninterrupted power supply to every consumer. To this end, the power
infrastructure is being continuously expanded and all necessary steps are being
taken as needed.
Minister Sharma said that under previous governments, the
power system was in a dilapidated state. There were neither enough poles nor wires,
nor was there a reliable power supply system. Today, Uttar Pradesh is among the
leading states in the country in power generation, supply, and distribution and
is committed to providing quality power to the public.
In response to a question from Legislative Council member
Mukul Yadav regarding the municipal waste disposal plant in Mainpuri, Minister
Sharma informed that the plant for urban solid waste management has been
operational since 2012. A work order has been issued on March 19, 2026, for the
disposal of approximately 50,000 metric tons of legacy waste available in the
city. Work has begun by installing the plant and necessary machinery, and
approximately 20 tons of solid waste is being scientifically disposed of daily.
He said that even today the present government is working to clean up the mess
left by previous governments.
In response to a question from Legislative Council member
Dhruv Kumar Tripathi regarding the expenditure on transformers in
Siddharthnagar, the Energy Minister clarified that the work was carried out in
accordance with the then-approved estimates. He reiterated that the state
government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is firmly
pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, and that irregularities of
any kind will not be tolerated, and that no officer or employee found negligent
will be spared.
