Bhubaneswar, 03 August (H.S.): Twelve athletes from Odisha Police were felicitated on Monday for their outstanding performances in national-level competitions across disciplines including Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate and Pencak Silat.
According to a press release issued by Odisha Police, the felicitation ceremony was held at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters in Bhubaneswar, where Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania presented awards to the medal winners.
The athletes had delivered impressive performances at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster (2026–27) held in Hyderabad and the 5th Senior National India Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026 in Pune.
Congratulating the sportspersons, DGP Khurania praised their dedication, discipline and team spirit, stating that their achievements have brought pride to both Odisha Police and the state. He also expressed confidence that they would continue to excel in future competitions.
As part of the recognition, silver medallists were awarded ₹4,000 each, while bronze medallists received ₹3,000 each as incentives.
Among the notable performers, WC/27 Saswati Nayak secured a silver medal at the Judo Cluster and a bronze at the Taekwondo Nationals. C/45 Satyaprakash Mohanty won two bronze medals, while WC/968 Bratati Biswaprava Pati clinched both silver and bronze medals in individual and team Karate events.
The event was attended by senior officers including ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar and Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh, who encouraged the athletes. Sports Officer Neelamadhab Swain coordinated the programme.
