Rahul Gandhi coming to Prayagraj for student dialogue
Student agitation intensifies at Alld Univ, students seek MP Ujjwal Raman Singh’s
support
Prayagraj, August 03 (HS): The student protests and
demonstrations that have been ongoing for the past several days at Allahabad
University have now escalated. Students have written a letter to Prayagraj's Lok
Sabha MP, Ujjwal Raman Singh, seeking his intervention and support for their
demands.
MP representative Vinay Kushwaha said that a delegation of students met MP
Ujjwal Raman Singh at his residence and through a letter made several serious
allegations against the university administration and placed their main demands
in which the students alleged that more than 6,000 seats have been cut in the
university. Fees are being increased at the rate of 10 to 14 percent every year,
due to which the financial burden on students is increasing.
The central library of the university remains open for only 8 hours, which is
being demanded to be extended.
Today the student union is locked in this historical university which is a
stronghold of politics. Student leaders say they have been staging a peaceful
protest since July 10th to press for these demands. However, instead of
listening to and engaging in dialogue with the students, the university
administration is bent on suppressing them. The university administration has
filed a case against student leader Priyanshu Vidrohi, who led the protest, and
his colleagues Gaurav Gond, Amit, and Ayush.
At the end of the letter, the students have humbly requested the MP, being a
public representative, to support this movement going on in the interest of the
students and to convey the voice of the students to the appropriate level. MP
Ujjwal Raman Singh has appealed to the students to reach KP College ground in
large numbers on August 8 at 5 pm, where Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will
interact with the students, in which the problems of the students will be heard
and solutions will be discussed.
