Lucknow, August 03 (HS): On Monday, the first day

of the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the House

expressed condolences for the passing of current Assembly member Alam Badi and

21 former members. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath introduced a condolence

motion in the House. Leaders of all parties, including the Leader of the House

and the Leader of the Opposition, expressed their condolences for the deceased

members.

After this, the Speaker of the Assembly expressed

his condolences and adjourned the proceedings of the House till 11:00 am on

Tuesday. Chief Minister Yogi, while placing a condolence motion in the House,

said that Azamgarh's SP MLA Alam Badi passed away on 23 July 2026. He was the

senior-most member of the House. He was born on 16 March 1936. He was elected

to the Assembly for the fifth time. In 1996, he became an MLA for the first time

after winning the Assembly by-elections. He was a member of many committees. He

was a popular leader. He was known for his honesty and simplicity in the

society. He was always available for the public. I offer my humble tribute on

his demise. I request the Assembly Speaker to convey my condolences to his

family.

Leader of the Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey said,

I associate myself with the Chief Minister's sentiments. Even at this

age, Alam Badi had the enthusiasm of a youth. He was undergoing treatment for

illness, but he wanted to contest the upcoming assembly elections. He had an

engineering degree and was staunch in his views.

Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said that with his

death, the state has lost a good social worker and politician. His passing is

an irreparable loss. Minister Sanjay Nishad expressed his condolences, saying

that the passing of senior member Alam Badi was an irreparable loss for all of

us.

Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra

Mona said that Alam Badi worked after completing his engineering degree. He was

also interested in social service. His identity was not his position, but his

simplicity. Even at his age, he worked for the community. He founded the Qaumi

Ekta Sangathan to maintain mutual harmony in society. Ramvivas Verma of Apna

Dal S and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Rajpal Singh Baliyan expressed condolences

in the House. Vinod Saroj of the Jansatta Dal Democratic said he continued to

work for the poor and the helpless.

Following this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

proposed a motion of condolence on the demise of 21 former MLAs. The Chief

Minister informed the House that Bhola Pandey from Ballia, Amitabh Lavania and

Jagannath Chaudhary from Agra, Ram Pyare Azad from Maharajganj, Gopinath Verma

from Ambedkar Nagar, Yashpal Singh from Bijnor, Radheshyam Bharti from

Prayagraj, Sangram Singh from Barabanki, Harinarayan Rajbhar from Ballia, Dr.

Bhagwad Dayal, Arun Kumar Munna from Jaunpur, Omwati Devi from Bijnor, Mohan

Singh from Saharanpur, Afsar U. Ahmed from Sant Kabir Nagar, Tejbhan Singh from

Amethi, Rudra Pratap Singh from Deoria, Pyarelal Shankhwar from Kanpur Dehat,

Omkar Singh from Badaun, Rajendra Tripathi from Prayagraj, and Hanumant Singh

from Balrampur have passed away.

The Chief Minister said, I express my

condolences on behalf of my party and the government. Assembly Speaker

Satish Mahana expressed condolences on the passing of the current and former

members and assured the House that the House's condolences would be conveyed to

their families. With this, the Assembly proceedings were adjourned until 11

a.m. on Tuesday.
