New Delhi, 03 August (H.S.): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that he will lead a march to the Prime Minister’s residence on Tuesday (tomorrow) to protest against the Centre’s ethanol policy. He said that he, along with a 100-member delegation, would attempt to submit a memorandum signed by more than 2.33 lakh people against ethanol to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters on Monday, Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the central government was imposing the ethanol policy on the country without providing sufficient justification, which, according to him, has resulted in reduced mileage of vehicles and affected their performance. He claimed that there was an agenda behind the government’s decision.
Kejriwal claimed that the party’s town hall programme on the ethanol issue, organised recently at Constitution Club, was successful. He said that nearly seven lakh people watched the programme live. He further alleged that individuals, content creators, and influencers opposing the ethanol policy were being intimidated and action was being taken against them.
He informed that more than 2.33 lakh people had signed an online petition addressed to the Prime Minister opposing the ethanol policy. Kejriwal said that he had written to the Prime Minister nearly a month ago seeking an appointment, but no response was received.
He added that he would march towards the Prime Minister’s residence from the party office at 12 noon on Tuesday and attempt to personally submit the petition.
