Agra, August 03 (HS): On Monday, at the 92nd

convocation of Agra's Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, the state's Governor and

Chancellor of the University, Anandi Ben Patel, honored 64 meritorious students

by giving them 88 medals. This time, a total of 79832 students were awarded

degrees. These include 55686 graduates, 9150 postgraduates, 14826 professional

courses, 167 PhDs and three D.Litt scholars. NCTE Chairman Professor Pankaj

Arora was the chief guest at the event, while Higher Education Minister

Yogendra Upadhyay and Minister of State for Higher Education Rajni Tiwari were

present as special guests.

On Monday, at the convocation ceremony held at

Shivaji Mandapam auditorium located in Vivekanand campus of Dr. Bhimrao

Ambedkar University Agra, the Governor, as the Chancellor of the university,

honored 64 meritorious students by giving them 88 medals. This year, there was

a special focus on the health of girls in the convocation ceremony. On the

initiative of the university, an HPV vaccination camp was organized by the CMO

for girls aged 14-15 years at the convocation venue. The Governor inaugurated

this camp in the university campus. After this, 6 projects were inaugurated

online by the Governor. These include renovation of the Model School, Miyawaki

Nidhivan, Chanakya Sadan, Sultanganj Shatabdi Bhawan, Kanath Hi-Tech Center and

renovation of the Ambedkar statue site.

Ardhendu Sekhar Das receives honorary degree: At

this year's ceremony, the University honored Ardendu Sekhar Das, a Golden Grass

craftsman from West Bengal, with an honorary degree for his contributions to

Indian traditional handicrafts and rural entrepreneurship. Select faculty from

colleges affiliated with the University were also honored by the Governor.

Their prominent presence: On the stage, Vice

Chancellor of the University Ashu Rani, Professor Pankaj Arora, Chairperson

NCTE, Ministry of Education, Government of India, besides special guest

Yogendra Upadhyay, Cabinet Minister of Higher Education, Rajni Tiwari, Minister

of State for Higher Education, former MP Prof. Ram Shankar Katheria and other

dignitaries were present. After the academic session of the convocation, the

Governor watched the documentary film prepared by the University in the

centenary year of the University. After the ceremony, the Governor will leave

for Lucknow by a special aircraft at around 4 pm.
