Guwahati, 03 August (HS): Charaideo Sunrisers continued their impressive run in the Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League (APL) with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Tezpur Titans at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati on Monday.
After restricting Tezpur Titans to 128/9 in 20 overs, Charaideo chased down the target comfortably, reaching 132/3 in just 15.4 overs with 26 deliveries to spare.
Tezpur Titans got off to a promising start through Wasim Akram Haque (27 off 18) and Roshan Topno (18), while skipper Nihar Deka added 21. Danish Ahmed chipped in with 20, but regular wickets and three run-outs derailed the innings.
Dibakar Johori starred with the ball, returning excellent figures of 3/13 in three overs. Mayukh Hazarika, Abinash Phukan and Amlan Jyoti Das claimed a wicket each as Charaideo kept the Titans under pressure throughout.
In reply, Charaideo lost opener Pradyun Saikia early before captain Sumit Ghadigaonkar (36 off 27) and Kirti Azad Yadav (35 off 35) stitched together a crucial 71-run stand to put the chase firmly on track. Hrishikesh Tamuli remained unbeaten on 20, while Reshabh Dipak smashed an unbeaten 19 off 11 balls to seal the win.
For Tezpur Titans, Ayushman Malakar picked up 2/22, while Wasim Akram Haque claimed the other wicket.
