Guwahati, 03 August (HS): A humanitarian message took centre stage during the Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League (APL) match between Guwahati Royals and Jorhat Stallions at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara, on Sunday.
Before the start of the match, a RoboDog carrying a placard reading Assam Needs You accompanied the players onto the field and later moved around designated areas of the stadium, drawing the attention of spectators and television viewers to the continuing hardships faced by flood-affected families across Assam.
The initiative aimed to use the visibility of a major sporting event to remind people that thousands of families are still struggling in the aftermath of the recent floods and continue to require support for relief, recovery and rehabilitation.
With the match being broadcast live, the campaign sought to reach a wider audience across the country, urging citizens, institutions and organisations to extend solidarity and contribute to ongoing relief efforts in Assam.
The initiative was facilitated by Guwahati Royals with the support of the league management, underscoring how sports can also serve as a platform for social awareness and public service. It conveyed a simple message that even amid sporting celebrations, the plight of flood-affected families should not be forgotten.---------
