Guwahati, 03 August (HS): Sixteen taekwondo players from Assam have been selected to represent India at the Chuncheon 202666y66y World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, scheduled to be held at the Air Dome in Chuncheon, 66South Korea, from September 16 to 20, 2026.

The announcement was made by the Taekwondo Martial Arts & Sports Association of Assam (TMSAA), which is affiliated with India Taekwondo. The championship will be organised under the aegis of World Taekwondo (WT), the international governing body for the sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The selected players will compete across individual, pair and group poomsae events in cadet, junior and senior categories. The selected athletes are: Saraswati Devi Kabrabam (Individual Cadet Girls), Debasish Das (Individual Junior Male), Aranya Dutta and Disha Patra (Pair Cadet Girls), Dheer Kashyap Talukdar, Mrigank K. Dutta and Rigby Sharmah (Group Cadet Boys), Nishita Borah, Preety Khakhlary and Abhilasha Das (Group Cadet Girls), Dezdimona Pathak, Shyamantika Baruah and Diya Patra (Group Junior Girls), and Benla Kemprai, Pollabi Handique and Hrittika Alamyan (Group Senior Girls).

TMSAA has appealed to the Government of Assam and corporate organisations to extend financial assistance to the players, stating that they are required to bear their own transportation, accommodation and registration expenses for participation in the prestigious international championship.-------
