Bhubaneswar, 03 August (H.S.): The Odisha government has announced a comprehensive relief package for families affected by the recent floods, including compensation of up to Rs 1.20 lakh for households whose homes have been completely destroyed. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari made the announcement on Monday.

The minister stated that the government has initiated a detailed assessment of flood-related losses in areas where water levels have fully receded. Teams from the Revenue and Agriculture departments have been deployed to evaluate the extent of damage.

Under the relief package, families with fully damaged houses will receive up to Rs 1.20 lakh each. Those whose kutcha houses have suffered partial damage will be provided Rs 4,000, while households with completely destroyed huts will receive Rs 8,000.

In addition to housing assistance, the government has also announced compensation for agricultural losses. Farmers affected by crop damage due to the floods will receive Rs 8,500 per hectare.

According to official estimates, the floods have impacted 22 districts, affecting 85 blocks and 1,458 villages across the state. A total of 8,63,909 people have been affected.
