
Kochi, 29 August (H.S.):Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan will arrive in Kerala on Sunday to inaugurate the Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali, the traditional snake boat race held on the Pampa river.
The Vice-President is scheduled to arrive at 12.30 pm and inaugurate the ceremonial water procession at 1.30 pm. He will leave Aranmula at 2.30 pm.
After landing in Kochi, Radhakrishnan will travel by helicopter to Alappuzha. Following a programme there, he will fly to Pramadom and proceed by road to Aranmula. After inaugurating the boat race, he will return to Pramadom and travel by helicopter to Thiruvananthapuram.
The Vice-President will return to Kochi on Monday to inaugurate the silver jubilee celebrations of Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology at 4 pm.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced in Kochi from 12.30 pm to 5.30 pm on Sunday and Monday in connection with his visit. The restrictions will cover National Highway 544 up to the SCMS Junction in Kalamassery, Medical College Road from HMT Junction to Toshiba Junction, and the Seaport-Airport Road between Toshiba Junction and the Infopark West Gate.
Vehicles travelling from Aluva towards Edappally, Vyttila, Tripunithura and Alappuzha must turn right at Paravur Kavala, reach UC College Junction, and proceed through Kadungalloor and Muppathadam to Container Road. They should then turn left at Cheranalloor Junction and travel towards Edappally through National Highway 66.
Vehicles arriving from Perumbavoor, Kizhakkambalam and Pookkattupady towards Tripunithura and Ernakulam should use the Pallikkara-Karimugal-Ambalamugal route to reach Irumpanam Junction.
Parking and roadside vending will be prohibited on both sides of the affected roads, including the Kalamassery SCMS-TVS Junction stretch, HMT and Medical College roads, and the Seaport-Airport Road between Toshiba Junction, Infopark West Gate and Chithrapuzha Bridge.
Police have advised motorists to plan journeys in advance, follow diversion signs and cooperate closely with officers deployed along the Vice-President's travel routes.
