Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane on Friday confirmed that talks have begun over an extension to his contract with the German football club. Kane’s current deal with Bayern runs until 2027.

The reigning Bundesliga champions have been keen for some time to extend their association with Kane. Following Bayern Munich’s 5-1 victory over Stuttgart, Kane revealed that an initial meeting regarding a new contract had taken place last week.

“I am 33 years old. This probably won’t be my last contract, but it will be a big contract for me to sign,” Kane said in a statement.

He said several aspects of a potential new deal still needed to be discussed, but made it clear that he would like to continue his association with Bayern Munich. Kane joined the German giants from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

“Both sides have to make sure they are happy. There is no rush from either side at the moment. I am confident that we will get to a point where both sides are happy,” he said.

The 33-year-old Kane is currently among the contenders for the Ballon d’Or. Last season, he scored 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern, the third-highest tally recorded by a player in a single season in Germany’s top flight. He also helped Bayern win the league and cup titles last season.

Across club and international football, Kane scored a total of 73 goals last season. He also scored six goals for England at the World Cup.
