Prayagraj, 29 Aug (HS): Kunwar

Rewati Raman Singh celebrates his birthday on August 26, having recently marked

his 86th birthday in August 2026. Celebrated with supporters, leaders, and

well-wishers at the K.P. Community Hall on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. Attendees

included local leaders, political figures from various parties (including

Congress and Samajwadi Party), and local citizens gathered to honour the

veteran leaders. Kunwar Rewati Raman Singh and his son, MP Ujjwal Raman Singh,

both having deep political roots in Prayagraj.

Kunwar Rewati Raman Singh is a veteran politician and co-founder of the

Samajwadi Party alongside Mulayam Singh Yadav. He has served as an 8-time

Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), a 2-time Lok Sabha MP from Prayagraj

(Allahabad), a Rajya Sabha MP, and a former cabinet minister in the Government

of Uttar Pradesh.

He belongs to a royal family of Bhumihar Brahmin and called as (Raja Baraon)

of Allahabad and is also known as Kunwar Sahab or Prince

Sir. He had worked with Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and

many other leaders to clean the holy Ganges river. He has a strong influence

not within SP but in other parties as well. He had worked with many popular

leaders like former Prime Minister V.P. Singh, Chandrashekhar and Raj Narayan

Singh.

His son, Allahabad MP Ujjwal Raman Singh, is also a prominent politician

carrying forward the family's political legacy in Prayagraj. He was elected as

MLA from Karchhana constituency in 2004 on Samajwadi Party ticket and served as

Chairman of Seed Development Corporation (Cabinet Minister) in the 2012-2017

Samajwadi Party government. He was re-elected in 2012 assembly election after

2004 as MLA from Karchana constituency. His victory was quite significant for

Samajwadi Party because he was the only SP candidate who won from Samajwadi

party in Allahabad and nearby constituencies. Rewati Raman Singh took part in

the protest against emergency imposed by Indra Gandhi. He won elections at the

time when Congress was on its peak point and rare leaders dare's to stand

against Grand Old Party. So winning election against Congress was the big deal

for Rewati Raman Singh.

When he won in 1974, he never looked back: MP representative Vinay Kushwaha

said, “Rajya Sabha member Revati Raman Singh contested his first election in

1974. He won, reaching the Assembly. After that, he never looked back in the

political arena. He continued to advance, establishing a strong foothold in the

political arena. He championed the voice of the people and, by addressing their

problems, won their hearts. This led to his eight-time MLA election.

Furthermore, he even defeated veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dr. Murli

Manohar Joshi in the Allahabad parliamentary seat.”

MP Ujjwal Raman Singh said that Kunwar Revati Raman Singh's relationship with

the people of Prayagraj is not merely political, but one of intimacy, trust,

love, and family. This relationship, dating back to 1974, has now spanned five

decades. Standing with the people through every phase of joy, sorrow, and

struggle, Babuji has been more than just a public representative for the people

of Prayagraj, but also a family member.

Senior Congress leader Shekhar Bahuguna also extended best

wishes for the long and healthy life of ex-minister and former Member of

Parliament Kunwar Rewati Raman Singh on the occasion of his 86th

birthday. He reached KP Community Centre and felicitated Kunwar Sahib by

garlanding him and presenting him with a ceremonial mace and a bouquet. The

Congress workers appreciated his popularity spanning more than 56 years and

lauded his contributions and dedicated work for the welfare and interests of

the general public.
