Prayagraj, 29 Aug (HS): North Central Railway (NCR) continues to fulfill its

obligations towards nation-building and youth empowerment by stepping up its

efforts under the Apprentice Act. For the year 2026-27, NCR has significantly

expanded its footprint, ensuring practical on the job field training for the

youth.

Key Highlights of the 2026-27 Notification:

Significant Increase in Opportunities: A total of 3,205 slots have been

notified for the 2026-27 training cycle, which is a major increase from the

1,800 slots notified last year (2025-26). The overall slot distribution across

NCR includes 1,462 slots for Prayagraj Division, 856 slots for Jhansi Division,

547 slots for Agra Division, 226 slots for Jhansi Workshop, 82 slots for the

Track Machine Line / HQ, and 32 slots for Headquarters.

Commitment to Inclusivity: Ensuring equal opportunities, 152 vacancies out

of the total slots are reserved in a horizontal nature for divyangjan, Persons with Benchmark

Disabilities (PwBD).

Addition of New Trades: As detailed in the notification, several new

technical and computer-based trades have been introduced to align with modern

industry demands. These include Computer Operator and Programming Assistant

(COPA), Multimedia & Web Page Designer, CAD-CAM Operator CUM Programmer,

Surveyor, Mason (Building Construction), Sanitary Hardware Fitter, and Building

Maintenance Technician among others.

Training & Stipend Benefits: The Act Apprentice training duration is

approximately 01 year. Apprentices will receive a regular monthly stipend (9000

rs approx/month) during their training period to support themselves while they

learn.

Certification: Upon successful completion of the training, candidates are

awarded the National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC). This certification is

issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), which operates

under the Directorate General of Training (DGT).

Advantage in Railway Jobs (RBE 51/2022): As a career boost under the Railway

Board's circular RBE 51/2022, Course Completed Act Apprentices (CCAAs) trained

in railway establishments are given a 20% horizontal reservation in Level-1

posts through open market recruitment. Furthermore, they receive a weightage of

1/3rd of their NCVT exam marks in their final written exam score and are

completely exempted from the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

diverse trades, NCR is deeply committed to fulfilling the mandate of the
