
Lucknow, 29 Aug (HS): On National Sports Day, Uttar Pradesh
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid respect to Hockey Magician Major Dhyan
Chand, saying that every athlete is a great societal hero. Yogi Adityanath
marked Major Dhyan Chand's birth anniversary and encouraged young people to include
discipline and athletics into their everyday life.
The state's first sports university in Meerut is named after Major Dhyan Chand,
and classes have already begun. The government is constructing a sports college
in each commissionerate, along with specific centers of excellence. Uttar
Pradesh adopts a 2% horizontal reservation policy for qualified sportspeople in
government employment, successfully recruiting over 500 sportsmen into state
departments.
In a post on X, he mentiomed, “On the birth anniversary of
the wizard of hockey, 'Padma Bhushan' Major Dhyan Chand, humble tribute and
heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all players and the people of the
state on 'National Sports Day'. Let us make sports the culture of life, discipline
our identity, and the pride, honor, and glory of the tricolor our supreme goal.
This will be the true tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and will form the foundation
of the strong, healthy, and confident youth power for a 'Developed India'.”
