Birbhum, 29 August (H.S.): A distressed father whose daughter has been missing for nearly six months arrived at Tarapith carrying a placard with her photograph, hoping to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and seek his intervention in tracing her.
The father, Ardhendu Singh, said he has been searching for his daughter across different places but has so far failed to find any clue about her whereabouts. He came to Tarapith after learning that the Chief Minister would be visiting the temple town, hoping to personally hand over a letter and appeal for help.
“My daughter has been missing for nearly six months. We have no idea where she has gone or what has happened to her. I have approached the police several times but have not received the kind of assistance I was hoping for. I also tried to reach the Chief Minister’s public grievance programme but could not. My wife is unwell, and I have been searching for my daughter from place to place. I want to give the Chief Minister a letter and request him to help trace my daughter,” Ardhendu Singh said.
According to the family, Amrita Singh went missing on March 13. A written complaint was lodged at Suri Police Station following her disappearance. The investigation has involved not only the local police but also assistance from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). However, no information about Amrita's whereabouts has emerged so far.
As the months passed without any breakthrough, the family's concern continued to grow. Ardhendu said he had searched extensively across different parts of Birbhum and also travelled to several other places carrying his daughter's photograph on a placard in the hope that someone might recognise her or provide information.
He also travelled to Mayapur, where he visited the ISKCON temple and other locations, speaking to people and showing them his daughter's photograph. Despite his efforts, he could not obtain any information that could help locate her.
After returning to Birbhum disappointed, Ardhendu has now decided to seek the Chief Minister's direct intervention. He hopes that meeting Suvendu Adhikari at Tarapith will help bring fresh momentum to the search for his missing daughter.
