New Delhi, 29 August (H.S.): Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 3.89 per kilogram in the national capital, New Delhi, and adjoining cities. Following the hike, CNG will now cost Rs 86.98 per kilogram in Delhi. The revised rates came into effect at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

In a statement, Indraprastha Gas Limited said CNG prices had been increased by up to Rs 3.89 per kilogram in the national capital and neighbouring cities. The new price in Delhi stands at Rs 86.98 per kilogram, compared with the earlier rate of Rs 83.09 per kilogram. In Noida and Ghaziabad, the revised CNG price has been fixed at Rs 95.59 per kilogram.

Following the latest increase, CNG will now cost Rs 95.47 per kilogram in Shamli and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. In Gurugram, the new price stands at Rs 92.01 per kilogram, while in Rewari, Haryana, CNG will cost Rs 91.59 per kilogram.

In its statement, IGL said a substantial portion of the gas required for CNG supplies is being met through imported liquefied natural gas (LNG). Spot and prevailing market prices of LNG have increased since the outbreak of conflict amid the West Asia crisis.

Notably, this is the fifth increase in CNG prices so far this year. Prior to the latest hike, IGL had raised CNG prices in four stages over a period of just 10 days, resulting in a cumulative increase of Rs 6 per kilogram.
