New Delhi, 29 August (H.S.): The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has taken cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the Red Fort blast case. Special Judge Prashant Kumar directed that the matter be taken up for further hearing on September 9. The court ordered that cognisance be taken of the chargesheet against 13 accused in the case.

The case was earlier being heard by the Patiala House Court. Following the establishment of a dedicated NIA court at Rouse Avenue, the proceedings are now being conducted there. Earlier, on July 6, the NIA had submitted a forensic report relating to the 11 people killed in the Red Fort blast.

On June 27, the NIA filed a supplementary chargesheet, naming three additional persons as accused. With the filing of the supplementary chargesheet, the total number of accused in the case rose to 13. The three individuals named in the supplementary chargesheet are Zameer Ahmad Ahangar, Tufail Ahmad Bhat and Muzaffar Ahmad alias Faraz alias Zafar, all residents of Jammu.

The NIA had filed its first chargesheet in the case on May 14, naming 10 accused. According to the agency, 11 people were killed in the blast. The approximately 7,500-page chargesheet also names Umar Un Nabi, who died in the blast, as an accused for his alleged role in the conspiracy.

According to the NIA, Umar Un Nabi had planned the car bomb explosion that took place outside the Red Fort on November 10, 2025. Umar died at the site of the explosion.

The agency had arrested an accused identified as Danish from Srinagar. According to the NIA, Danish made technical modifications to drones and attempted to prepare rockets before the car bomb explosion. The agency has alleged that Danish played a key role, along with Umar Un Nabi, in carrying out the broader conspiracy.

The NIA has further alleged that Danish, a graduate in political science, was allegedly radicalised and brainwashed by Umar to become a suicide attacker. According to the agency, Danish agreed to meet members of the so-called “doctor module” at a mosque in Kulgam in October 2024. He was subsequently taken to Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, where he stayed.

The blast occurred on November 10, 2025, when an i10 car exploded near the Red Fort. According to the NIA, the vehicle was registered in the name of Amir Rashid Ali.
