New Delhi, 29 August (H.S.):

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to expand its outreach to the country’s new generation of young voters, particularly Generation Z. As part of its efforts to deliberate on the issue and formulate a future course of action, the party convened a crucial meeting at its headquarters on Saturday.

Sources said around 45 leaders from different states attended the meeting, which was chaired by BJP president Nitin Nabin. Among the prominent leaders present were National General Secretary Smriti Irani, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan, Bansuri Swaraj, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma, Guru Prakash Paswan, Hemang Joshi, Yogendra Chandolia, Raju Bista, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, besides several other young leaders and party functionaries.

The meeting focused extensively on ways to bring young people across the country into the party’s organisational fold, create greater opportunities for their advancement within the organisation, deliberate on emerging political dimensions and chalk out the framework for future programmes.

The participants also discussed several key issues, including the changing mindset of young people, their preferences and concerns, the challenges they face and their expectations for the future.

The meeting is being viewed as an effort by the BJP to understand how young Indians perceive the country and politics in the present environment. The party is also expected to place greater emphasis on targeted campaigns and programmes aimed at encouraging more active participation of young people in its organisational and political activities.
