Guwahati, 29 August (HS): Two residents of Assam’s Nalbari district, Samar Bezbaruah and Pankaj Barman, have been rescued and are currently safe in Nepal following the devastating floods, while another resident from the district, Arun Mahanta of Arara, remains missing.

Samar Bezbaruah, while recounting the ordeal, said the water surged suddenly, leaving them with little time to react. He said they narrowly managed to save their lives, but three people who were with them are still unaccounted for. Rescue teams later brought Samar and Pankaj to Kathmandu.

Pankaj Barman is also currently safe after surviving the disaster. He reportedly described how he managed to escape the sudden deluge.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of Rahul Daimari from the Jaipukhuri area of Merapani in Golaghat district remain unknown. Rahul was working at a power project in Nepal when the disaster struck.

Rahul’s mother has expressed anguish over the lack of information about her son, saying that she has received no news about him so far and is deeply worried about his safety.

The search for the missing people from Assam is continuing amid ongoing rescue and relief efforts in Nepal.------------
