New Delhi, 28 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan with schoolchildren at his official residence in New Delhi on Friday, continuing a tradition of marking the festival with young visitors. The children tied rakhis on his wrist, while the Prime Minister interacted with them in a warm and informal atmosphere.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi extended his greetings to citizens on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and wished that the festival would bring happiness, prosperity and success into everyone's lives. He also expressed hope that the bonds of affection, love and mutual trust associated with the festival would remain strong and unbreakable.

As part of Friday's celebrations, schoolchildren visited the Prime Minister's official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, where they tied traditional rakhis on his wrist. Modi spent time speaking with the children and exchanging festive greetings with them.

Photographs and a video shared by the Prime Minister on Instagram showed him interacting closely with the young visitors. He was seen shaking hands and exchanging high-fives with the children, creating cheerful and memorable moments during the celebration.

The Prime Minister captioned the video, Hi5, smiles and more during today's Raksha Bandhan celebrations at 7, LKM. The interaction also featured children asking Modi questions, with the Prime Minister responding warmly and spending time with them.

Raksha Bandhan, celebrated on the full-moon day of the Hindu month of Shravana, symbolises the bond of affection, trust and protection between siblings. The traditional celebration involves the tying of a rakhi, or sacred thread, and is marked across the country with family gatherings and festive rituals.
