New Delhi, 28 August (H.S.): Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers on Friday extended their greetings to the people on the occasion of World Sanskrit Day, observed on Shravana Purnima.

Vice President Radhakrishnan wrote on X, Heartfelt greetings on World Sanskrit Day! Sanskrit is the timeless language of India's knowledge, philosophy and civilisation. For centuries, it has shaped our rich cultural heritage and intellectual traditions. Let us resolve to preserve, promote and propagate this invaluable treasure of Sanskrit, while enhancing its relevance in the modern world and connecting future generations with its eternal tradition of knowledge.

Prime Minister Modi said, This language has always been a continuous carrier of India's knowledge, thought and creativity. Its positive influence can still be seen in several fields today. On this special day, we extend our good wishes to all those in India and around the world who study and teach Sanskrit. They are working to pass on the divine treasures contained in the language to the next generation.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, Sanskrit is India's pride, and Sanskrit Day is observed on the full moon of the month of Shravana. Sanskrit has enriched India's knowledge tradition for thousands of years. It is not merely a language of communication, but a living repository of India's intellect, thought, philosophy and culture. The language serves as a link connecting everyone with their roots and is also a symbol of the remarkable synthesis of logic, knowledge and spirituality. Preserving Sanskrit and promoting its transmission to the younger generation is a commitment to carry forward our rich civilisation, culture and intellectual heritage.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said, Sanskrit, which forms the fundamental foundation of India's tradition of knowledge, culture and consciousness, is not only ancient but also exceptionally rich from a scientific perspective. The Vedas, Upanishads and scriptures composed in Sanskrit have paved the way for knowledge for humanity for centuries.
