Kannada superstar Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic was released in theatres on August 26. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the action thriller opened to a spectacular response, recording a net collection of Rs 101.10 crore on its first day and surpassing the opening-day records of several major films. However, the film witnessed a sharp decline in its earnings on the second day. According to Sacnilk, Toxic collected Rs 37.65 crore on its second day of release, taking its total net collection in India to Rs 138.75 crore. Of this, Rs 24.25 crore came from the Hindi version, while other languages contributed Rs 13.40 crore. The film’s worldwide gross collection is reportedly estimated at Rs 190.10 crore so far.

Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2, meanwhile, continues to maintain its hold at the box office. Although the film’s pace has slowed considerably, it is still registering steady collections. According to reports, the film earned Rs 60 lakh on its 14th day of release, compared with Rs 90 lakh on its 13th day. Its total net collection in India has reached Rs 144.25 crore, while its worldwide gross collection has crossed the Rs 203.70 crore mark.

Yash’s Toxic features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria in key roles, along with several other actors. Awarapan 2, on the other hand, stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi.

Although Toxic earned less than half of its opening-day collection on the second day, a net collection of more than Rs 138 crore within two days is being considered a strong start for the film.
