Chandigarh, 28 August (H.S.): Raksha Bandhan was celebrated across Punjab with warmth and affection, highlighting the cherished bond between brothers and sisters. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann celebrated the festival by having his sister tie a rakhi on his wrist and sought her blessings. He also extended greetings to all brothers and sisters in Punjab and those living across the country and abroad, wishing all women happiness, good health and prosperity.

The Chief Minister said ensuring the safety, dignity and well-being of mothers, daughters and sisters in Punjab remains a priority of the state government. He said more than 70 lakh women have so far received the Samman Rashi, while over ₹180 crore has been released for new registrations.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also celebrated Raksha Bandhan as women tied rakhi on his wrist. Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat celebrated the occasion at his residence with women from his constituency and extended his greetings. Minister Harjot Singh Bains also received a rakhi from his sister, while Cabinet Minister Aman Arora celebrated the festival as well.

The leaders expressed their wishes for the bond of love, trust and affection between brothers and sisters to remain strong and enduring.
