
Nagaon (Assam), 28 August (HS): Police have launched an operation against fake SIM cards and cybercrime in Moirabari and arrested a person allegedly linked to a fake SIM card network.
A joint team of Lahorighat Sub-Divisional Police and Moirabari Police conducted the operation using special techniques and apprehended the accused from a shop near the Sumo Stand at Moirabari market.
During the operation, police seized around 2,500 SIM cards of various telecom companies, eight mobile phones, two scanner machines, a fingerprint machine and ₹12,000 in cash.
According to the preliminary investigation, the arrested person allegedly used illegally activated SIM cards to facilitate online financial fraud and other cybercrime activities.
Moirabari Police have launched a detailed investigation to identify other persons who may be involved in the fake SIM card supply network.---------
