Ludhiana, 28 August (H.S.): Ludhiana Police have claimed to have busted a suspected espionage network

allegedly linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, with the arrest of a

man from the city. According to Sarabha Nagar Police, the accused was allegedly

monitoring sensitive activities from a rented shop and providing live CCTV

feeds to people across the border.

The arrested accused has been identified as Rachhpal Singh, a native of village Sarf

Kot in the Fatehgarh Churian area of Gurdaspur district. He had reportedly rented

a shop in New Sunder Nagar on Ferozepur Road, where police suspect that the

alleged espionage activities were being carried out.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that CCTV cameras had

been installed outside the shop. Investigators allege that live footage and

access to these cameras were provided to persons based in Pakistan. Security

agencies are now trying to determine who had access to the cameras and whether

sensitive locations were being monitored through them.

Police have also received information that the accused allegedly used

different mobile numbers to issue threats. Investigators are examining the

mobile numbers and trying to establish whether they were connected to the

suspected espionage activities.

According to police, SI Arshdeep Singh received intelligence regarding the

accused while on patrol. Following the information, a case was registered at

Sarabha Nagar Police Station and Rachhpal Singh was arrested. Police said

action has been taken under relevant provisions of the Official Secrets Act.

Following the arrest, police and security agencies are conducting a detailed

investigation into the accused's contacts and activities. The primary focus is

to identify the people in Pakistan who allegedly had access to the CCTV feeds,

trace the accused's associates and establish the connection between the alleged

threats and the suspected espionage network. The investigation is ongoing.
