
Dehradun, August 28 (H.S.): The Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at several places in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand. It has also issued a warning of intense to very intense spells of rain accompanied by lightning at isolated places.
According to the weather department, some parts of Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts may also receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers. In the hilly districts, isolated areas are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by lightning.
During the past 24 hours, maximum temperatures in the plains remained considerably below normal to normal, while temperatures in the hills ranged from below normal to normal. On Friday morning, the minimum temperature was recorded at 24.3 degrees Celsius in Dehradun, 25 degrees in Pantnagar, 16.1 degrees in Mukteshwar and 16.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
According to Meteorological Department data, Dewal in Chamoli recorded 123 mm of rainfall after 8.30 am. Khanpur received 64.5 mm, Chalthi 57 mm, Tharali 53 mm, Bastia 46 mm and Jakholi 37.5 mm. Shama recorded 25 mm, Pokhari 35 mm and Vikasnagar 25 mm of rainfall.
In Dehradun, partly cloudy conditions are expected, with one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 33 degrees Celsius.
