28 Aug (HS): Elections to Gram Panchayats in Maharashtra are likely to be

further delayed, as the issue relating to reservations is still unresolved. The

term of administrator has expired and the government has not issued for further

arrangements.

In

Yavatmal district administrators were appointed on 980 Gram Panchayats in

February 2026. The six months’ term of the administrator expired on August 23.

The outgoing Sarpanchs were appointed ye administrator.

In

Amravati district the term of administration over 550 Gram Panchayat expired.

The Zilla

Parishad CEO has sought directions from the State Government.

The SIR

process delayed the elections, besides the issue relating to reservations.

Fresh orders

are expected within next two to three days. The aspirants are waiting for thr

orders so that they can prepare for the elections.
