(HS): Another incident of chlorine leakage sparked panic among the citizens on
Thursday evening. The chorine lea was reported from a Water Purification Plant
of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) in Shakarpur under the jurisdiction of
Beltarodi Police Station in Nagpur.
It was the
second gas leak incident within a week, and from Water Purification Plants of
MJP, the first one being in Godhni area on Monday.
According to a
senor Fire Brigade officer, on getting the information Fire Department
personnel from Narendra Nagar and Beltarodi rushed to the site. The teams
cordoned off the area and then sealed the leakage. This was a minor leakage
from a 500 kg tank which was installed recently.
The MJP removed
the tank and shifted it to a safer place.
The leakage in
two MJP water purification plants has raised several questions relating to
safety measures taken during the operations.
