Hyderabad, August 28 (H.S.): Devotees in Hyderabad and neighbouring areas will be able to obtain clay Ganesh idols free of cost for the upcoming Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations.

The three municipal corporations will distribute four lakh eco-friendly clay idols for the 11-day festival. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will provide two lakh idols, while the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) and

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) will distribute the remaining two lakh between them.

The idols will be available in three sizes — eight inches, one foot and 1.5 feet.

Arrangements have also been made for Ganesh idol immersion at 25 water bodies across Hyderabad. The immersion location will be determined based on the size of the idol.

In 2025, more than 2.07 lakh Ganesh idols were immersed across Greater Hyderabad. Nearly 50,000 idols were immersed in Hussainsagar, while other immersion points included water bodies at Saroornagar, Kukatpally, Kapra, IDL and Safilguda.

More than 50,000 police personnel were deployed during the immersion process last year
