Bhubaneswar, 28 August (H.S.) Odisha Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Indian chess grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa on his historic achievement of becoming the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour title.

In a social media post, Patnaik praised Praggnanandhaa for defeating defending champion Fabiano Caruana in the final to clinch the prestigious title.

Patnaik described the victory as a historic achievement that would inspire thousands of sportspersons across the country. He lauded the young chess player’s accomplishment and wished him continued success in his career.

“May he touch greater heights in his chess career and bring more glory to the country,” Patnaik said while extending his best wishes to Praggnanandhaa.
