Kanpur, 27 Aug (HS): On Thursday, a private training

aircraft crashed in a field on the banks of the Ganga in Kanpur, killing the

pilot and co-pilot, police said. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation

(DGCA) will investigate the events leading up to the incident. The aircraft,

which belonged to Kanpur-based aviation training institution Garg Aviation,

crashed near the Ganga Barrage. Following the collision, locals raced to the

scene and transported the pilot and co-pilot to a nearby hospital, where they

died from their injuries. The victims have not yet been identified.

According to police, the pilot had more than 3,000 flying

hours and lived in Gujarat, while the co-pilot was from Karnataka. Police

cordoned off the crash scene and reported the event to the DGCA. A DGCA team

will arrive at the scene, and a thorough investigation will identify the reason

of the collision. The specific cause of the collision has yet to be determined,

authorities added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed great grief over the

deaths and extended condolences to the families. He prayed for the departed

souls to rest in peace and for the families to be strong enough to handle the

loss.
