Hooghly, 27 August (H.S.): Police have arrested two persons in connection with a betting and gambling case with the assistance of Uttarpara Police. The action was carried out under the leadership of DCP (DD) Rupantar Sen Gupta.

Police shared details of the operation at a press conference on Thursday.

According to police, Rs 12.48 lakh in cash, more than one kilogram of gold, PAN cards, driving licences and other articles were recovered from the arrested accused.

During interrogation, police reportedly gathered information about the involvement of 18 other suspects in the case. Investigators are examining their alleged roles, and police expect to arrest them soon.

DCP (DD) Rupantar Sen Gupta said the two arrested accused already had criminal records and had been involved in criminal activities in the past.

Police are continuing their investigation to identify other members of the alleged betting and gambling network and determine their involvement in the case.
