Madrid, 27 August (H.S.): Kylian Mbappe’s sensational hat-trick inspired Real Madrid to a commanding 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in La Liga 2026-27 on Wednesday. The match also marked manager Jose Mourinho’s first home game back at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mourinho’s side had previously secured a 2-1 victory over Espanyol, but Real Madrid produced a far more impressive performance against Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu.
Mbappe opened the scoring five minutes before the end of the first half, unleashing a superb left-footed strike from Federico Valverde’s pass to put Real Madrid ahead.
Real Sociedad, however, levelled the score before the interval. Luka Sucic capitalised on a deflection and sent the ball past Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to make it 1-1.
Jude Bellingham played a pivotal role in Real Madrid’s second-half dominance, providing two assists. First, he combined brilliantly with Mbappe before setting up the French forward, who made no mistake in converting the opportunity to restore Real Madrid’s lead.
Bellingham then displayed remarkable strength and determination to keep the ball in play near the goal line before setting up Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian forward finished clinically to extend Real Madrid’s advantage to 3-1.
Mbappe completed his hat-trick with a sublime chip over the goalkeeper after receiving a pass from Vinicius, effectively sealing a comprehensive victory for Real Madrid.
With the win, Real Madrid moved to the top of the La Liga standings with six points. Sevilla and Real Betis also have six points. Real Madrid’s next fixture is against Malaga on Sunday.
